OUR MISSION
About us
The South Central Training Consortium, Inc. (SCTC) is a non-profit organization designed to 1) provide services to other non-profit agencies so that these agencies might better meet the mental health needs of their clients, and 2) provide graduate level psychology practicum and intern students an opportunity to learn about, and serve, under-served populations as these students work towards their professional degrees and licensure.
Most "grass-roots" nonprofit agencies are designed to target certain populations struggling with particular issues such as substance abuse, sexual assault, domestic violence, homelessness, foster care emancipation, re-entry/family reunification, and/or urban educational issues. These agencies are often ill-equipped to deal with the overwhelming, unresolved, un-attended to, mental health and clinical counseling needs of their clients.
Founded in 1992, SCTC's vision is to provide much-needed mental health counseling and assessment, program development, evaluation, and case management consultation, to diverse populations and underserved families of Los Angeles - at no cost to the families. These services are rendered in non-profit agencies where families seek social services, by supervised graduate level psychology students.
